You’ve
been merrily working on your knitting loom and your big project is looking
good. Then you look down. A crease has suddenly appeared in your magnum opus!
One of two errors may have caused this. You may have double knit one row (two loops rather than one). More likely, however, you knit from the fastened end of the yarn rather than the opposite end. This makes that row tighter.
Well,
the crease is there. Fortunately, the world will not end. You can still find
the joy, I promise you. You have a few options.
1. Unravel back to the mistake. You will have
to keep track of your rows as you do this, because you will need to start
counting again.
2. Live with it. No one ever died from a crease
in a sweater. Honest. Unless it was King Richard or some character in a Greek
tragedy.
3. As in my weblog essay “Thoughts from a
Knifty Knitter Newbie,” find the joy. If you intentionally repeat this mistake,
you can make a pattern. Decide how often you want to repeat it. You clever
designer, you!
4. Fix it.
Here’s how.
1. Slide the hook into the first tight stitch.
1. Slide the hook into the first tight stitch.
3. Ease the stitches
to better match the surrounding rows.
I hope this helps you continue merrily on your way!
